There is no cure for the ills of our modern societies. Symptoms will follow symptoms as day will follow night. But we can heal.

Healing occurs when we create the physical and mental conditions for a sentient organism to become whole and in balance from within, by virtue of its own nature.

It is our orthodox medical and political practitioners who are so often slaves to mechanistic science. Whilst we, their patients and electors, are not, because we their patients and electors are incapable of being slaves to mere mechanical forces. They employ methods suited to simple structures and processes. We are wonderfully and gloriously complex. Each and every one of us. AND SO IS THE BODY POLITIC

We the patient, and we as the body politic, are sentient organisms, fully integrated in a way that can be described as the body/mind continuum. It is a reality of the universe. It is at once our cross, our glory and our hope. Our cross, because it means we cannot escape responsibility without suffering dis-ease. Our glory, because our birthright, our fundamental nature, everything about us, requires us to be involved, requires us to be participants and partners in our individual and mutual destinies. Our hope, because that last fact points the way to effective political relationships and therapies that can transform our present symptom-ridden state.

UNTIL WE WELCOME SYMPTOMS, AND CEASE ALWAYS TO DIAGNOSE THEM IN TERMS OF IMMEDIATE PHYSICAL CAUSES, BUT AT LAST ACCEPT THEM AS SIGNS OF OUR INNER STATE , AND BECOME PREPARED TO ACT ACCORDINGLY IN TERMS OF HOW WE LEAD OUR LIVES, IN TERMS OF THE ATTITUDES WE CARRY WITHIN OUR SOCIAL EXISTENCES, WE MUST FOREVER EXPECT TO BE CONDEMNED TO THE DEBILITATING AND UTTERLY PATHOLOGICAL CYCLE OF OUR SYMPTOM FIXATION.
